How You Can Stop A Panic Attack in Progress

When you're ready to stop your panic attacks there is actually no shortage of routines that can help you cure your panic. Any of those routines could help you put an end to your panic over a long period of time. But what do you do when an attack has already started?

Here I'm going to detail three simple methods that you can start using today to halt any panic attack, even if it's already started and well on it's way.

1. Getting Some Physical Exercise

When a panic attack is in full swing, there is a rush of adrenaline that hits, making you shake and feel antsy. That adrenaline is causing you to feel wired and on edge and is going to make it feel impossible to stop your panic symptoms.

If you want to reduce some the erratic terror that panic attacks cause, you need to get rid of some of this adrenaline.

The best way to do it is to do some kind of physical activity.

It you can, go for a walk, go for a run, go do some jumping jacks. You want to get up and get your heart and muscles working a little - you don't even need to work up a sweat. We want your body to start burning off some of that adrenaline and to start creating more endorphins.

Now sometimes exercise just isn't practical during an attack. Like, say, in the office or on the bus. But any time you can get some extra physical exercise in those critical moments, do it.

2. Positive Triggers

A very effective technique for stopping panic attacks is what's called an NLP trigger or anchor. These positive triggers will create a rush of good and positive emotions that will cancel out the flood of negative panic. At best you're left feeling great, at worst they will counteract each other and leave you feeling neutral.

To create a positive trigger, you just need to repeat a chosen physical gesture whenever you are feeling happy and joyful.

Repeating these physical triggers will act just like the smells or songs that still trigger happy memories even years down the road.

Just imagine being able to feel an attack coming, perform your PPT and feel the feelings of joy and happiness you anchored wash over you and stop the attack.

3. Panic Away Technique

The One Move technique was developed by Joe Barry and it's something that he talks about in his book Panic Away. The tactic is very unique as far as treatments for panic attacks go because it's an entirely mental technique.

It doesn't require any physical movement like positive triggers or exercise. It's more like a mental rescue that you can use whenever you feel an attack starting.

I would tell you more about the One Move, but that wouldn't very proper of me. Since Joe reveals the One Move technique in his book, I can't give away his secret here, I don't think that would be very nice.

But if you want to learn more about the One Move Technique or Panic Away itself you can read this full Panic Away review. It's got lots of in depth information on curing panic attacks without medication. While you're there you can read all of the other free articles on the stopping panic attacks using your NLP anchor and generalized anxiety disorder.
